Twenty-six of the Brunetti novels have now been filmed by the Germans. In early 2009 Donna Leon was telling audiences at signings that she was in talks with the BBC about making English-language Brunetti adaptations. Nothing came of this, supposedly because of the BBC's decision to film Michael Dibdin's Zen novels instead. The fact that these latter adaptations where not a success, ratings wise, presumably put the kibosh on any future filming of the Brunetti series.
